About the album
Released in 2015, Skeletons finds Glenn Danzig stepping away from original material to pay tribute to the songs that shaped him. The selection spans both the Elvis and Black Sabbath sides of his taste, ZZ Top's 1986 single "Rough Boy" and two themes from late-1960s outlaw biker films, with everything but the ZZ Top song dating from between 1962 and 1974. It's a project he claimed to have planned as far back as 1979, and he produced it himself. Danzig called these songs the foundation of the music he likes, and AllMusic's James Christopher Monger found it a delight for longtime fans, especially those leaning toward the Misfits/Samhain end of the spectrum.
