About the album
Beat the Boots! #2 is a follow-up to the 1991 box set of the same name. Issued in 1992, it contains legal reissues of seven bootleg recordings made between 1968 and 1978. Conceptual Continuity is an audience recording, while At the Circus is predominantly sourced from a 1978 television broadcast.

Collector Notes: Zappa's own answer to the bootleg trade — he tracked down the tapes bootleggers had been selling for years and put out 'factory-reconditioned' official versions himself, with the box's tongue-in-cheek cover line: 'Accept These Substitutes!' This is the second volume, eight CDs deep: Disconnected Synapses (Paris, 1970), Tengo Ná Minchia Tanta (Fillmore East, 1971), Electric Aunt Jemima (Denver, c.1968), At The Circus (Munich/Uddel, 1978/1970), Swiss Cheese/Fire! (Montreux, 1971), Our Man In Nirvana (Fullerton, 1968), and Conceptual Continuity (Detroit, 1977). This copy is genuinely complete: all eight CDs, the 'Beat The Boots!' scrapbook booklet, and the wool beret with its original tag are all present. Disclosure: the outer cardboard box shows mild corner and edge softening consistent with its age — the CDs, and beret inside are all clean, Booklet shows a stain on its back, see pictures.
