Seller's Notes: Original USA Press
Collector Notes: John Hammond's From Spirituals To Swing concerts, Carnegie Hall, December 1938 and 1939 — the first time that stage gave the whole line of Black American music its due, from gospel and blues to boogie-woogie and swing. Robert Johnson was booked for the first night but had died that summer; Hammond played his records from the stage and Big Bill Broonzy came on in his place. On two CDs: the Benny Goodman Sextet with Charlie Christian, Meade Lux Lewis, Sidney Bechet, Tommy Ladnier, James P. Johnson and Hot Lips Page. Both discs are in near mint condition, Booklet is clean and sharp TOP COPY! RARE!
