About the album
Released in September 1975, Extra Texture (Read All About It) was George Harrison's final studio album for Apple, arriving nine months after his troubled 1974 North American tour and the poorly received Dark Horse album. It's a soul-leaning, keyboard-heavy record, and the only Harrison album whose lyrics are devoid of any obvious spiritual message. "You" was the hit single, originally recorded in London in 1971 with co-producer Phil Spector as a basic track for a planned Apple solo album by Ronnie Spector. "This Guitar (Can't Keep from Crying)" is a sequel to his 1968 composition "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and a rebuttal to his detractors. A quieter, somewhat weary chapter that rewards patient listening.
