About the album
Sweet Children was released in August 1990 through Skene! Records. The EP collects some of the band's earliest songs, played by Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and drummer John Kiffmeyer. For collectors, it's a window into their formative sound before the polish arrived.

Collector Notes: Before Dookie, before American Idiot, before the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame — this is where Green Day's story on vinyl begins. The band was originally called Sweet Children before settling on the name Green Day, and this EP's title is a nod to that original name. Cut in a few hours at a home studio the summer of 1990: the title track, Best Thing In Town, Strangeland, and a scrappy cover of The Who's My Generation. Pressed by a tiny Minneapolis DIY label on a run of a few hundred copies, sold at basement shows and mailed out of a PO box — a genuine artifact from before anyone outside the Twin Cities knew the name. Sleeve shows light corner softening consistent with its age, most visible at the top-right corner; no writing, tears, or seam splits. Vinyl graded a hair under Near Mint after close inspection near the label — nothing that should affect play.
