About the album
Jefferson Airplane's 1966 debut, Takes Off, captures the band in their earliest form, with Signe Toly Anderson sharing vocals alongside Marty Balin before Grace Slick joined. Released by RCA Victor, it is more grounded in straightforward folk rock than the band's later records, with Balin's songwriting at the center. A few tracks were pulled or altered over lyrical concerns.
