About the album
Marillion's second album, released in 1984, found the band streamlining their neo-prog leanings after Script for a Jester's Tear. Recording ran behind schedule, and it was the first Marillion album to feature drummer Ian Mosley, after the dismissal of Mick Pointer. AllMusic singled out "Assassing," "Incubus" and the title closer, which ends side two; Fish wrote all the lyrics and Steve Rothery played guitar. It reached number 5 on the UK Albums Chart and was certified Gold by the BPI.
