About the album

The Doors' 1967 debut arrived fully formed, capturing a band that had already honed its sound in the Sunset Strip clubs. Produced by Paul A. Rothchild with engineer Bruce Botnick, it features Ray Manzarek's organ, Robby Krieger's guitar and the playing of jazz-influenced drummer John Densmore, with Jim Morrison on vocals. "Light My Fire" became the group's breakthrough single, and the album concludes with "The End". Its range of styles, including jazz, blues, classical, pop and R&B, is all anchored in a rock foundation.
