About the album

Following the sprawling triumph of Exile on Main St., the Stones decamped to Kingston, Jamaica, cutting Goats Head Soup at Dynamic Sounds in late 1972. The 1973 result finds them in a looser, more atmospheric mood, less raucous than its predecessor, heavier on mood and texture. "Angie," the ballad lead single, went to number one in the US and the top five in the UK, while "Star Star" and "Winter" show the range. The album reached number one in the UK and US, and it was the last Rolling Stones album produced by Jimmy Miller, with Mick Taylor on guitar.
