About the album
The Velvet Underground's second album, released in early 1968, is the band at its most abrasive and uncompromising. Recorded quickly with John Cale still in the lineup, it trades the gentility of the debut for distortion, feedback and chaos pushed well past the red. The title track opens with amphetamine urgency, while the seventeen-minute "Sister Ray" remains a landmark of extended noise and improvisation. "The Gift" pairs a deadpan short story with instrumental menace. A commercial disappointment on release, it peaked at number 199 on the Billboard Top LPs chart, and its heavy use of distortion became a prototype for later punk rock and noise rock.

Seller's Notes: CD is: Near Mint (NM) played once or twice shows virtually no signs of wear, plays, transfers cleanly to any format, with sound that outpaces any streaming platform. Media looks clean, overall in Near Mint condition. Hard to find copy. Amazing sound quality! Case / insert / booklet are: Excellent Plus (EX+): original case shows normal shelf wear and age, not cracked not broken, works like it's supposed to. Booklet is clean, but there are 2 dents on the right side from the plastic holders. Please see pictures, what you see is what you get. Overall in Excellent Plus condition. Do not let this one pass!
