Collector Notes: Two cornerstones of Cuban son on one disc. Trío Matamoros formed in Santiago de Cuba in 1925, and Miguel Matamoros wrote Son de la Loma — the song that taught the rest of the world what son sounded like. The Guaracheros de Oriente side brings Ñico Saquito's Adiós Compay Gato, next to Frutas del Caney and Juramento. Disc shows visible marks, but does not affect play. Booklet shows 2 dents on the right side from the plastic holders, and a dent on the middle.
