About the album
Wings arrived with a decidedly loose, informal document. Recorded mainly in late July 1971, with overdubs in September and October, Wild Life followed McCartney's aim of recording the songs quickly, in a few takes and with minimal overdubs, after McCartney and Ram. Critical reception at the time was generally negative, with many agreeing it fell short of the standards of McCartney's Beatles work. "Dear Friend" is McCartney's attempt at reconciliation with his former bandmate John Lennon. An underdog chapter worth revisiting.
